What Trips Your Trigger?

By Sheryl Forge, CCHT

Have you ever been somewhere surrounded by several people, enjoying yourself thoroughly until someone walks up and says or does something that makes you feel angry, sad, frustrated, insecure...etc? Within seconds, you go from joy into a tailspin? The complete tailspin may take a while as you are an adult and you will compose yourself in front of others or NOT, but the joy you were feeling has now diminished itself into a flat line feeling. Or, you completely react with a sarcastic remark, yell, or have an all out temper tantrum. Someone has TRIPPED YOUR TRIGGER! People are triggering all the time. Have you seen the angry driver’s on the street, domestic violence, fights, someone consistently finding the worst boss and quitting their job over and over again? Guess what… it’s not really the boss! TRIGGERS are what sets us off; an emotional reaction that is coming from the unconscious mind. Most triggers come from past programming that is stored within the unconscious mind. We react to things that are happening in the NOW that really do not pertain to the NOW. In actuality it pertains to something that we’ve experienced in our PAST that is getting triggered in the NOW.

When utilizing Hypnosis, the Hypnotherapist is able to get to the why, what, who and how to stop the emotional reactions in a very timely fashion. This is an absolute life changing event. With as little as three sessions you will notice positive change. With as little as six sessions you will notice extreme positive change in how you react to situations that once TRIGGERED you into doing things or saying things that can take your life, relationship, job etc., into a downward spin. The amount of time you spend working with your Hypnotherapist is contingent upon each individual, the issues that require attention and how willing you are to make the change. If you are getting your trigger tripped stop blaming everyone else for your reactions. It’s simply a stored belief that is getting triggered. You now know that hypnotherapy can take care of that trigger. If we all take care of our own triggers all that talk about peace, happiness and prosperity is truly possible.

WHAT IS HYPNOBIRTHING®?

HypnoBirthing® is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing, and stress-free method of birthing. This amazing program teaches you, along with your birthing companion, the art and joy of experiencing birth in a more comfortable manner. You will learn how to call upon your body’s own natural relaxant and thus lessen, or even eliminate, discomfort and the need for medication. When a woman is properly prepared for childbirth and when mind and body are in harmony, Nature is free to function in the same well-designed manner that it does with all animal mothers in Nature. Through self-hypnosis, special breathing, and visualization, HypnoBirthing® teaches you to release all prior programming about birth, how to trust your body and work with it, as well as how to free yourself of harmful emotions that lead to pain-causing fear and unyielding muscles. HypnoBirthing® will teach you the art of using your own natural birthing instincts. With HypnoBirthing®, you will not be in a trance or a sleep state. You will be aware and fully in control, but profoundly relaxed.

Hypnosis on the Airwaves and in the News

On October 24, 2007 I had the opportunity to be a guest on Lynette Corston’s
show “Insightful Happenings”. The show is broadcasted from the West Allis
Community Media Center (channel 14).

It was a wonderful opportunity to share and educate others on Hypnosis. There was a caller from Canada that shared her daughters story and benefits from hypnosis that was extremely profound.

We also had two fantastic quests Pam and Marlene that were willing to be
hypnotized on camera so that the viewing audience could see and hear an actual hypnosis session.

Thank you Pam and Marlene for participating in the show! I realize that it’s not an easy task to relax, open up and share on camera!

Anyone in the West Allis viewing area that would like to see the program,
please tune in on Tuesday October 30th at 8pm. The show will also be aired
every Tuesday at 8pm and every Wednesday at 10am throughout the month of
November.

For those of you that are interested in the show, but are not in the West Allis viewing area you can contact Channel 14 at 414-321-1121 and request
a copy of the “Insightful Happenings”

“Hypnosis with Sheryl Forge”. They can send either a DVD or VHS of the show for $10.

The CD “Self Esteem Booster” is now available for purchase. Anyone interested in boosting either their own or gifting another a boost of self esteem; contact me by phone or email.

Sheryl@centerofawareness.com or 262-227-7009.

Very soon you will be able to purchase the CD via my website.

Frequently asked Questions about Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis?

During hypnosis the body and conscious mind go into a relaxed neutral state. At that time, the subconscious mind is remains awake and receptive to suggestions. Hypnosis is simply an education communication process that allows a persons conscious and subconscious minds to believe the same message.

How does the Subconscious Accept Hypnotic Suggestions?

Hypnotic suggestions by pass the critical or intellectual mind called the conscious and zero in on the subconscious. When given a suggestion that is within the bounds of a person’s belief system and moral orientation, the subconscious mind accepts it literally as new reality.

How does Hypnosis help people?

The ability to reprogram emotional attitudes and reactions is a talent within every human being. Hypnosis is the most functional and reasonable way to train life long attitudes and behaviors, rather than suffer a lifetime of emotional accidents the conscious mind is unable to change.

Is Hypnosis Medically Approved?

Yes, In 1958, The American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association have approved hypnotherapy for use by professionally responsible, certified individuals. The British Medical Association also adapted Hypnosis as a viable therapeutic tool in 1958 the same time the American Medical association approved it.

Are the results Permanent?

Suggestions stay with some individuals indefinitely, others need reinforcement. The effects of hypnosis are cumulative: The more the techniques are practiced and post-hypnotic suggestions are brought into play, the more permanent the results become. Self hypnosis training and reinforcement tapes, cd’s for home use provide additional help.

How does Hypnosis assist with Stress?

Excessive stress is not something anyone should have to put up with. We need to accept that stress exists and that it is a killer – there are statistics produced every minute that prove this. Stress affects the functioning of our hearts, lungs, stomach, intestines and blood vessels.

Why do some people seem to be affected by stress more than others?

Contrary to popular belief, the people who cope with more stressful situations are not necessarily more intelligent or more capable; they just react to
situations differently. It is not the situation that causes the stress, it is how the person reacts to it.

Hypnosis can assist in reprogramming how one reacts to certain situations.
